A Robotic Future at Work

Do you like robots? Do you like technology? Will you like these things when they take your job? Some “experts” say that up to 50% of our jobs will be done by robots and computers in the next 20 years. What do you think? Let’s watch the video and see! As always, we have questions for debate after the video. Our next video will be published the week of the 24th of April. Happy Easter!

  1. Do you think that robots or computers will be able to do all or part your job in the next 20 years? Why or why not?
  2. Would you trust a robot to drive you in a taxi, bus, airplane? Why or why not?
  3. If half of our jobs are done by robots, what will we do to make a living?
  4. How will society change if robots are taking over half of the jobs we do?
  5. What new jobs will emerge as a result of this change?
  6. What jobs will never be done by robots or computers?

IDIOM: to beat around the bush (verb): to talk about something while avoiding the main point; to speak very indirectly about a topic

If you need to discipline an employee, you shouldn’t beat around the bush. It’s better to be direct.
Politicians tend to beat around the bush because they don’t want to offend anyone.
Stop beating around the bush and tell me your real opinion!

Don’t forget that we are doing our trimester quality surveys this week! If you haven’t received your survey, let us know! Thank you so much for your help!
